Easy Leaf Napkin Fold For Fall or Thanksgiving Tablescape

Pretty leaf napkin fold used in a pretty Thanksgiving tablescape.

This leaf napkin fold tutorial is so quick and easy to create, but adds so much charm to your fall or Thanksgiving tablescape!

It’s time for another 10 minute decorating post!  Today we’re all sharing some quick and easy Thanksgiving decorating ideas to help you decorate your home in no time!  You can find the links to the rest of the projects at the end of the post, but I’ll start with this super easy leaf napkin fold tutorial.

These just take a minute or two to create and are so easy that you can even get your kids to do them if you’re short on time.  All you need is your regular paper napkins so they won’t really even cost you anything extra!

Leaf Napkin Fold Tutorial

Materials

  • Paper napkins in the color of your choice.  Square ones work best but you can always trim down the rectangular ones if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Twine or ribbon
  • Hole Punch
  • Paper for the leaf
  • Brown ink {optional}
  • Cinnamon Stick {optional}

Directions

  • If you have a rectangular napkin, fold one of the corners over to create a triangle.  Trim the excess so you have a square.
  • If you already have a square napkin, you just have to fold it in half diagonally.  This is what you should be starting with.
  • Make a fold {about 1/2 inch} along the long side of the triangle.
  • Flip the napkin over and make another fold of the same width.
  • Continue with this basic accordion fold {folding on one side then flipping over} until you have folded all the way to the point.
  • Pinch the napkin in the middle and fold it up on either side.
  • Secure it at the base with some twine and then press the center of the leaf folds together.  Fluff and press the folds until you have the shape and definition that you like. {NOTE: You could use a really small piece of clear tape to secure the leaf in the centre if it’s not staying in place}.
  • Cut a leaf shape from cardstock and punch a hole on one end.  Write the names of your guests or other Thanksgiving notes if desired.  For a more rustic look, crumple up the leaf and add a little brown ink to the edges.
  • Tie the twine and slide in a cinnamon stick.

I promise that it takes way more time to read through these instructions than it does to make the leaf napkins!  I made 4 in less than 10 minutes.
